What does this theme signifies with relation to the story? As I know for
all the things that happened to Aeneas, he needs to have the courage to survive
or to surpass the circumstances/disturbances to him in finding his new land
which is the City of Rome. He was destined there to live when the City of Troy
was destroyed by the Greeks that night. But before he can claim the new
homeland, in the story they are many lives also who sacrificed themselves just
to protect or not destroy the arrival of Aeneas to Rome. Such as, his father
Anchises who died in somewhat part of the Book III.
With all of those
hardships and his loss from the Greeks who destroyed the City of Troy. It's not
the time to stop him to his journey through the City of Rome which is destined
to him. Those loss and defeat enables him to have more courage to fight
with the enemies and surpass all the disturbances to his journey. Aeneas
signifies the epic of arms and heroism. I can say that he is a great warrior in
the story. That scenes makes the book very interesting.
The time of the Fall OF Troy when the Greeks warriors inside the Trojan horse that they made, all of the Trojans were asleep because they have a rejoice party for they thought that they win over the Greeks.
But they didn't know that it was planned to defeat them this midnight. As the Greeks warriors escaped from the horse, others open the gates and gave a sign to other soldiers. The Greeks run inside the city and they surprise the trojans.
That night also Aeneas prepares to fight the Greeks because they are out powered that time. Many lives were sacrificed for them and he wants to end this war. But his wife Creusa refuses with his decision to fight. His wife begs him to consider first her and his son Ascanius. This scene is somewhat the same also with the scene in the story of Illiad. It is when Andromache pleased hector to fight with Achilles. Because Hector killed Achilles bestfriend who is Patroclus wearing his armor. But Hector wasn't pleased by Andromache and he fight with Achilles man to man until he was killed.
Those two scenes have in common in terms of safety. As you can see that the wife of Aeneas and Hector pleased or begged them no to fight and just consider first their loved ones. Also both of them fight for the sake of their city. They will do anything or sacrifice themselves just to surpass the problem they are encountering with the enemies. But how do they differ? I can say that the cause of the problem is different. With Aeneas its because of the Greeks who are destroying their country while with Hector its because he killed a man who was not Achilles which is Patroclus, best friend of Achilles.
FALL OF TROY
It started with the fall of Troy. All of a sudden, Aeneas home was destroyed by the Greeks because of their ingenious plan. A plan that can lead to the destruction of the city of Troy.
As Aeneas tells all of the things happened about the fall of troy, that's the time I feel sympathy for them. I know many soldiers or warriors sacrifice their lives just to protect and fight for their freedom. Another reason why I feel sympathy for them because the Greeks surprise the Trojans using the Trojan horse while they are sleeping and they killed some normal people with no power to fight with them.
When Aeneas will live and find Rome, my feelings changed. Why? My feelings became more stronger because Aeneas is destined to change the course of their lives in the western world so he flees the ashes of Troy to found the City of Rome that is destined to him.
